The Himalayan Center of Sri Aurobindo Ashram in Nainital is a significant branch of its namesake ashram, which is situated in Delhi. It is the Himalayan centre for the group dedicated to yoga and meditation. The Himalayan Center of Aurobindo Ashram is a branch of New Delhi Ashram working as a training center of Aurobindo Ashram Pondicherry. Located at the steep climb of the hill, its elevation is 7400 ft or 2200 meters with a campus that spreads in around 4 acres of land. Also known as Van Niwas, it offers isolation and serenity while providing beautiful view of panoramic valley of Nainital.

The vertical ascend upwards in the direction towards the Ashram is a great work out for people who are physic conscious which provides a sense of satisfaction when arriving at the Ashram. Ashram also provides residential accommodation for which permission prior to stay is required. One can easily stay here and practice various yoga asans as well as meditation techniques. There are many activities designed especially for children. Here they can learn physical exercises as well as discipline, time management, increasing mental strength, managing own routine work, along with the qualities of sharing, helping, paying respect to elders and indulging in some cultural activities.
Food is available here at the ashram for the guests staying in or one can bring it from outside. However, non-vegetarian food is strictly prohibited here.

There are many budget hotels near Aurobindo Ashram if someone could not find accommodation within the premises of the Ashram. They suit all budgetary requirements and capable enough to cater all basic requirements of stay near the Ashram while providing a close view of this divine place very frequently.
The Ashram is open on all working days from 6:00 in the morning to 6:00 in the evening. It is open on Sundays and all public holidays as well. Taxis, cabs are easily available from hotels or other points of the city. One can also take a walk from the valley towards the uphill. From railway station also, one can hire cabs or auto to reach Himalayan Center of Aurobindo Ashram.
