Coconut Dosa and Onion Chutney

  • 3 cups – rice
  • 2 cups – grated coconut
  • A pinch of Salt
  • 1 – medium sized onion
  • 1 cup – grated coconut
  • 5 – red chillies
  • 1 tbsp – tamarind paste
  • Salt to taste


  • Grind coconut, red chillies and tamarind into a thick paste with a little water.
  • Blend the finely chopped onion with the coconut paste and a little salt.
  • Set aside the onion chutney. Soak rice in water for 30 mins.
  • Grind coconut and rice together to a fine thin paste with water.
  • Add salt to taste.
  • Heat non-stick pan. Pour the dough and spread into a dosa.
  • Cook both sides till done.
  • Serve hot with onion chutney.
