Google surprised everyone on Wednesday by releasing the Android N Developer Preview significantly earlier than expected. The Android N Developer preview offers a look at new features which will be available in the next Android build including multi-window support, brand new notification shade, notification enhancements, and more.

Google however stresses that “Android N is still in active development.” Dave Burke, VP of Engineering (Android), in a blog post announced the availability of developer preview and said the motive of releasing a “work in progress” build earlier in the development cycle was to give Google more time to “incorporate developer feedback.” (more…)


Google’s Project Ara modular smartphone: Everything you need to know


Google wants to do to hardware what apps did to software.

By creating a phone that can have each component changed, Google believes it will drive down hardware pricing while allowing users to pick and choose what they want. That’s what Google’s Project Ara – a modular smartphone – aims to do.

Google wants any developer to be able to create modules for its Ara device, meaning kit you might have seen on Kickstarter in the past as a standalone device could go directly into your Ara phone in the future. (more…)

Xiaomi Mi 5 and Redmi Note 2 Purportedly Pictured in Leaked Images


Adding to the previous leaks dealing with Xiaomi Mi 5 and Redmi Note 2, two new images have surfaced on Chinese social networking site Weibo. These images shows the handsets’ back panels, offering more details about the two smartphones.

The first image (via Gizmochina) featuring the rumoured Xiaomi Mi 5 shows the smartphone’s dual-camera setup at the back along with dual-LED flash. The rear panel of the rumoured smartphone show no sign of the inclusion of a fingerprint sensor, which was rumoured earlier this week. The back panel seems to have been made out of glass. (more…)

Lenovo A6000 Plus


Lenovo on Friday launched a slightly more powerful variant of the popular Lenovo A6000 smartphone, the Lenovo A6000 Plus, priced at Rs. 7,499. Registrations for the smartphone’s first flash sale via Flipkart on April 28 will begin on Friday, 2pm IST.

The dual-SIM supporting Lenovo A6000 Plus is identical to the Lenovo A6000 except for featuring twice the RAM and inbuilt storage. The handset equips 2GB of RAM and 16GB of inbuilt storage as compared to the Lenovo A6000’s 1GB and 8GB inbuilt storage. (more…)

Honor 6 Plus: A Photographer’s Delight


After wowing quite a few critics with the Honor 6, Huawei’s latest flagship, Honor 6 Plus, is making all the noise now. The Honor 6 Plus’ most important feature is the trio of 8-megapixel cameras – two on the rear and a front-facing one.

In its marketing spiel, Honor, a new sub-brand of Huawei, claims that the two parallel cameras on the rear can take better pictures than a DSLR camera. While we are taking those words with more than just a pinch of salt, we’d be very pleased if the Honor 6 Plus can take better photos than other Android smartphones in the same price range. Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro Laptop and Tab 2 A7-30 Tablet


Lenovo on Tuesday launched the Yoga 3 Pro ‘ultrabook’ notebook in India, with prices starting from Rs. 1,14,990. The successor to the Yoga 2 Pro, the Yoga 3 Pro was first launched in October in the US, starting from $1,349.99 (approximately Rs. 82,500).

In India, the Lenovo Yoga 3 Pro will be exclusively available via the Lenovo Smart Connected Devices store (, and select Croma retail outlets across the country.

Alongside, Lenovo has also brought the tablet it launched at CES, the Lenovo Tab 2 A7-30, to India at Rs. 8,500 for the 2G variant, and Rs. 11,800 for the 3G variant. The device was launched alongside the Lenovo Tab 2 A7-10 at CES, but already made its way to India last month at Rs. 4,999. (more…)
