When Microsoft stock was at a record high in 1999, and its market capitalization was nearly $620 billion (roughly Rs. 38,31,445 crores), the notion that Apple Computer would ever be bigger – let alone twice as big – was laughable. Apple was teetering on bankruptcy. And Microsoft was so dominant in personal computers, then the center of the technology universe, that the government deemed it an unlawful monopoly.
This week, both Microsoft and Apple unveiled their latest earnings, and the once unthinkable became reality: Apple’s market capitalization hit $683 billion (roughly Rs. 42,20,769 crores), more than double Microsoft’s current value of $338 billion (roughly Rs. 20,88,755 crores). (more…)
The home button is the biggest button on iOS devices and probably the most important one. It’s a great example of what makes the iPhone and iPad so easy to use – that single button will always take you to the homescreen no matter what you’re doing. Nokia’s return to the hardware market looks set to become official later this month as the N1 tablet will begin shipping in China on January 28th. Pre-orders for the Nokia N1, which is manufactured by Foxconn and sold under the Nokia brand, will begin tomorrow and the N1 tablet will cost 1599 RMB (equivalent to around $258 or £170). (more…)
Lenovo announced two new Android tablets, Tab 2 A7-10 and Tab 2 A7-30 in the A-series. These Tab 2 series of tablets, successors of last year’s A7-30 have 7-inch (1024 x 600) IPS displays, are powered by a , 1.3GHz Quad-Core MediaTek MT8382M SoCs and runs on Android 4.4 KitKat. Both these have 1GB RAM, 8GB of internal storage and pack a 3450mAh battery. The Tab 2 A7-30 also comes in 16GB variant.
The Lenovo A7-30 comes in WiFi and 3G with voice calling support and the Tab 2 A7-10 comes only in Wi-Fi version. (more…)
