If you want to remain fit and healthy, try to go for frequent breaks from prolonged sitting at workplace or home as daily morning exercise alone may not help you ward off the ill-effects of sitting for long hours.

For the first time, researchers from King’s College London have shown that increasing the levels of physical activity is likely to be much less effective at reducing prolonged sitting than directly attempting to decrease sitting time.

“These findings will be of interest to researchers and practitioners designing new ways to reduce prolonged sitting,” said lead researcher Dr Benjamin Gardner from King’s College London. (more…)
